The Argentina football team is gearing ready to play France in the FIFA World Cup 2022 championship match on Sunday (December 18). Argentina's icon Lionel Messi will be a crucial component of their quest for a third World Cup victory. Messi, who may play in his final World Cup game, is now Argentina's biggest injury worry after repeatedly gripping his hamstring during this week's World Cup semifinal victory over Croatia.
Due to worries about the Argentina captain's fitness, Messi and the rest of the starting lineup missed training on Thursday, December 15. Prior to their World Cup final match against France on Sunday, Argentina fans are growing more concerned about Messi's health.
Messi's absence from practise, though, is not cause for concern just yet, since manager Lionel Scaloni granted the day off to the whole starting lineup from the semi-final. Despite being widely regarded as fit, Messi is reportedly having hamstring pain, according to Foot Mercato.Paulo Dybala and Angel Di Maria, two seasoned Argentina players who both replaced themselves against Croatia in the second half, were present during practise. Marcos Acuna and Gonzalo Montiel will make their comebacks from suspension, while Papu Gomez, who has a sprained ankle, is still questionable for the championship game.
But Messi is the player on whom every Argentine is pinning their hopes going into the match with France. With five goals and three assists in six World Cup games for his nation, the Barcelona icon has been in sensational form.As he attempts to win the trophy on his fifth and last attempt, he has been more important to Argentina's success at the tournament than just his contributions to goals.Messi and Kylian Mbappe, teammates at PSG and contenders for this year's Golden Boot, will face off in the World Cup championship game.
