According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo declines to train with substitutes in Favour of a gym session.

Since Marca revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo did not exercise with the replacements on Wednesday, a new controversy has erupted around him in the Portugal team (December 7). He preferred to go to the gym with the starters, according to a claim cited by the Daily Mail.

This scandal has emerged as a result of the Portugal captain stirring up trouble in Qatar on several occasions. A substitution against South Korea earlier in the tournament caused him to express his annoyance and enrage his coach. After that, he was absent from the starting lineup against Switzerland in the Round of 16 due to injury. Ronaldo was seen leaving the field alone at Lusail Stadium, leaving the rest of the Portugal team to celebrate making it to the quarterfinals despite the coach claiming it was a "strategic" decision.

Ronaldo was not only left off the starting lineup for the game against Switzerland, but 21-year-old Goncalo Ramos also took his place. Ramos scored an incredible hat trick on his professional debut.

Coach Santos of Portugal is now torn between selecting Ronaldo, who has been the team's match-winner for a while, or Ramos, who also showed off his talents. Santos, however, stated that he would continue to make player selections based on the advantages and disadvantages of the team's opponent and that the choice would only be made for the benefit of his team.

On the other hand, Ronaldo has been in the news for a while now thanks to an explosive interview he gave to Piers Morgan in which he accused former Manchester United players as well as manager Erik Ten Hag of wrongdoing. The club then officially announced that it had ended its contract with him in a statement. Soon after, there were rumours that he would join the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, but Ronaldo later refuted those claims.

He is currently in Qatar with the team that will face Morocco on December 10. Ronaldo broke a record at the start of the competition by becoming the first male player to score in five different World Cups, and he will be looking to continue his streak in the games to come.
