A fresh story claims that WhatsApp is exploring a native picture-in-picture option for video calls. Since the capability was discovered in an early build of iOS, only some iPhone owners now have access to it. It is unknown if and when WhatsApp will make the aforementioned feature available to all users.
As the name implies, picture-in-picture mode enables users to use other apps while participating in a video call. Picture-in-picture support is already available in apps like YouTube and Google Meet/Hangouts, making multitasking simple and convenient.
According to popular WhatsApp development tracking website WABetaInfo's report, the feature is accessible to some users running the most recent iOS beta build, or version 22.24.0.79.
Naturally, the update and accompanying feature will only be available to TestFlight subscribers, Apple's official beta channel for all things, particularly third-party apps. According to the WhatsApp tracker website, version 2.22.24.79 of the WhatsApp Settings contains this new feature.
