The following-generation Verna, on which Hyundai has been working for some time, is anticipated to make its world debut at the approaching 2023 Auto Expo. New spy images now provide us a first glimpse at the interior of the 2023 Verna, which we can compare to earlier sightings of the test mule for design cues. The most important lesson? A configuration with two enormous horizontal screens for entertainment.
- Dual screen arrangement for the upcoming Verna
- will receive ADAS technology such as adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist
- being marketed as a gasoline-only model
Interior of the 2023 Hyundai Verna seen
The interior of the Verna test mule exhibited above is still extensively hidden, but it is possible to see that the infotainment system has been upgraded to a continuous dual-screen layout without a separate instrument binnacle.Although this interior configuration has never been offered by Hyundai on a vehicle in India, the South Korean automaker already offers a comparable design on the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 EVs that are offered there. The Ioniq variants are even identical to the narrow band of AC vents below the infotainment screen. In fact, Hyundai's dual-screen setup will be available in India for the first time on the Ioniq 5, which is anticipated to debut before the new Verna.
The system will probably be touch-based and include a variety of connectivity functions, just as the Ioniq versions. Although not visible in the spy photo, Hyundai is likely to keep using physical HVAC control knobs and buttons, just like the Ioniq models. The following-generation Verna will also include ADAS capabilities including lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and front collision prevention, as we have previously reported.
The split screen arrangement was once thought of as a premium feature and was first employed by Mercedes-Benz in models like the current generation E-Class and the prior generation S-Class. The Mahindra XUV700 in India then helped democratise it, and more and more cars are currently adopting it. A similar arrangement will be featured in the next Kia Seltos facelift as well.
2023 Describe the Hyundai Verna in more detail.
Previous spy shots of the next-generation Verna reveal aesthetic hints that suggest it might have been highly influenced by the new Elantra in terms of style. The new Verna will feature a broad grille that blends into the headlamps and adhere to Hyundai's "Sensuous Sportiness" design philosophy. It will look like a fastback with a tapered roof and Tucson-style chrome aesthetic components on the exterior dual-tone alloy wheels and a C-pillar.
Hyundai is anticipated to maintain the 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated petrol engine that currently produces 115 horsepower as well as the 1.4-liter, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 140 horsepower from the Creta. The current Verna uses the 1.0-liter, 120hp i20 turbo-petrol engine. However, due to the impending RDE pollution requirements, the 1.5-liter diesel engine will no longer be offered in the new Verna and the i20.
Hyundai Verna: expected release in 2023
At the next Auto Expo 2023, the new Verna might make its world debut before going on sale later that same year. When it comes out, it will compete with vehicles like the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, all of which are already petrol-only vehicles. Keep in mind that Honda will also stop making its diesel engine for the City due to the RDE emission standards, thus this market will eventually exclusively offer petrol vehicles.
