Apple releases iOS 16.2 for Indian customers that is compatible with 5G networks.

The Cupertino, California-based technology giant had pledged to release the upgrade by December after the Indian government pressured it and other smartphone manufacturers to start enabling 5G capabilities on their devices.

As of right now, Apple users in India will be able to receive 5G services thanks to the release of iOS 16.2, which has the necessary software to connect to India's next-generation networks. Select customers will have a month to test out Apple's public beta release of the same. Fascinatingly, an iPhone 14 Pro Max on the Airtel network demonstrated that the 5G software was still not available despite the update. Users will be able to view the 5G options in network settings after the update, though.

Before releasing the full software upgrade to all customers, Apple planned to gather input on network performance and address any concerns. Users can expect access to 5G's faster download rates, minimal latency, and new use cases, such as cloud gaming.

The Cupertino, California-based technology giant had pledged to release the upgrade by December after the Indian government pressured it and other smartphone manufacturers to start enabling 5G capabilities on their devices. Early in November, the Beta update started to be distributed. Other significant smartphone manufacturers, including OnePlus and Motorola, have begun phasing in 5G updates. On October 1, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 5G services, and soon after, network operators made the technology available in major cities.

Update to iOS 16.2 beta: Additional features

Numerous additional new features are included in the release for iOS. Included in this is a fresh Freeform that can serve as a whiteboard for users to collaborate with one another and let others edit the files as well. With the new "Sing" feature coming to Apple Music, users will be able to sing along to their favourite tunes. The lyrics, which Apple refers to as "beat-by-beat," will make Karaoke simpler when using Apple Music.

Additionally, Apple is adding end-to-end encryption to additional iCloud backup types, such as Notes, Photos, etc. When Always-On Display is activated on the different iPhone 14 Pro models, users can now choose to hide their wallpaper or notifications from the Lock Screen.

Additionally, the enhanced search in Messages enables users to look for photographs by looking for the content within them, such as a dog, automobile, person, or just the text itself in a picture.
